Jason Trotter started working for Fayette County Fire Department in 2002. While in rookie school, he got married to his wife, Sarah. He finished Fayette County’s rookie school and became an EMT – Intermediate before the end of 2002. In 2005, his family was blessed with the birth of their first child, a healthy baby boy.
He worked with Fayette County until 2006, when he had the opportunity to come to the City of Fairburn to help start a new Fire Department. In March of 2006, he left Fayette County and started with the City of Fairburn, along with with some of the most experienced and well trained Firefighters from all over Georgia.
In the summer of 2007, they welcomed an addition to their family with the birth of a baby girl. He continued with his firefighting career and worked his way up from firefighter to Lieutenant. He has served for the last several years as a Lieutenant on A shift.
Recently, he was transferred to C shift where he was getting to know a new group of Firefighters when he was diagnosed with stage 3 Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. Jason is currently undergoing chemotherapy to kill the cancer. He is under the care of many talented Doctors that have given him a high percentage of beating this disease and he is counting down the treatments until he can get his family’s life back to normal.
